Review

In the Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34, you will get a classic slate gray finish along with a brand new hinge design which is called “ErgoLift”. This hinge slightly angles the whole notebook by just 2 degrees when you open up the lid.

The effect is to make typing a more comfortable experience, and it surely serves the purpose well.

Also, ASUS introduced something called “NanoEdge” display. This is a fancy way of mentioning that the ASUS has a small screen bezel on all the edges.

In turn, the gray laptop’s reduced dimensions also improve its portability. Other important features include a full backlit keyboard with an amazing light chassis.

Performance

CPU

The Intel Core i3-8145U which comes with the ASUS Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34 is fully capable of tackling apps. Things like browsing the Internet, multitasking, streaming online content, managing your emails,  document editing, etc. won’t make the i3 struggle at all.  It has-

  • 2 cores,
  • 4 threads,
  • A base frequency of 2.1 GHz,
  • A maximum frequency of 3.9 GHz, and
  • A thermal design power of 15 Watts.

Benchmark tests score of this CPU is 5400 points, which is amazing considering this number would have been imputed to an i5 only 2 or 3 years ago!

RAM

Standard memory size is also important for today’s needs. A total of 8 GB of DDR4 SDRAM are included for the user, It allows all the apps to run smoothly. Photo and video editing will work very well, Run multiple apps and programs at once can also be done without any issue.

Storage

ASUS Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34 packed with a 128-GB M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD). While having an SSD is excellent for your device’s overall efficient performance, but somewhat low storage capacity means you’ll have to depend on either an external hard drive or you have to use cloud storage.

If you only use the notebook for daily tasks and online multimedia streaming that don’t need storing large files you will be totally fine with the provided storage capacity.

Graphics

As you already know, gaming on a budget device is problematic and unreasonable. This ASUS Vivobook 15 laptop has an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 video card. The lack of a dedicated graphics card will not aff ect regular photo editing tasks, But the latest games will not be playable.

You’ll be able to get decent framerates from small games, for example, Minecraft, LoL or some browser games and also few indie releases, but for the high-resolution games we are afraid to tell you that this notebook just won’t cut it.

Display

Display quality is of this laptop is awesome, considering the price point. The ASUS Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34 comes with a 15.6″ screen with Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels, LED-Backlit display.

Please be noted that you will not get any IPS technology with this model laptop, So the viewing angles won’t be as awesome as in other, more premium laptops.

However, the Full HD resolution is the perfect match for the display size. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier of this review, a thinner bezel will give you a less stuffy, less boxy experience while working.

Interface options.

Ports

It is a great joy to inform you that the Vivobook is also on par with today’s standards. You will get a mix of new generation USB ports along with the older 2.0 port, which is perfect for charging your newer devices and using surroundings at the same time. Below is a list of available ports:

  • USB 3.1 Type-A
  • USB 3.1 Type-C
  • USB 2.0 ports
  • HDMI
  • microSD card reader
  • combo audio jack

Networking

If you are a person who wants to stay connected to a landline via Ethernet cable, then we are afraid this notebook is not for you. This device comes with only an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi technology, so you can use the Internet only via a wireless router. It also has a Bluetooth 4.1.

Portability

We are glad to praise the ASUS for making an affordable notebook which is so lightweight, like an ultrabook.

ASUS Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34-3.JPG

The Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34 is an easy carrying laptop despite being a 15.6-inch device. This device weighs just 3.5 pounds, traveling, carrying it over at university or office, or simply move around inside the house with it won’t be a tough thing for users.

Its dimensions are also slimmer. All thanks go to its NanoEdge display. It measures just 14.1″ x 9.1″ x 0.75″, which means it will fit in a backpack or a messenger bag more easily compared to a traditional 15-inches.

Battery life

ASUS did not mention anything about the battery life of this particular laptop. But according to our experience and assumptions, we can say that a full charge of its 2-Cell, 37 WHr battery will last at least 7 to 9 hours approximately.

Not that amazing, but definitely not a poor result either.

Conclusion

The new ASUS Vivobook 15 F512FA-AB34 is definitely one of 2019’s best laptops in terms of the worth of your money. You may get a more powerful notebook if you add a few bucks but this budget range laptop is the best option to consider for people who don’t actually require that much processing power and hardcore specifications.
